December Promotions Abound at WSOP.com New Jersey
It’s December! You know what that means, right? Well, yes, besides Christmas and Chanukkah and my wife’s birthday and my son’s birthday and…oh dear I’m going to be spending a lot of money this month *sigh*. Maybe I should move to New Jersey so that I can participate in the multitudes of promotions that WSOP.com has going on this month. Just take my incredible poker skills on up there and rake in the cash so that I can pay for all these gifts. Either that or just write more articles.
Masterful segue aside, WSOP.com New Jersey is running tons of promos this month. Here they are, in order from worst to best:
4x Challenge
This one is almost useless, but I suppose for new, micro-stakes players, it can be cool (I really shouldn’t scoff – it’s not like I was some high roller). Starting yesterday – so get on it – players just need to earn a few Action Player Points (APP) in each of four days during a week to earn a small bonus. For the first week, which ends December 9th, anyone who plays four days and earns two APP will win $1 tournament ticket. For the second week, which runs December 10th through December 16th, players need to earn four APP on four days to win a $5 tournament ticket. That’s it. Easy goal, minimal rewards. Only cash games count.
Holiday Gift Giveaway
Starts December 21st and concludes when you’re hungover and watching college bowl games on New Year’s Day. Each day, just click on a link in a pop-up to register and then earn one APP in any cash game or tournament to be eligible for a daily drawing. At least one prize is awarded every day of the promotion (which implies there could be more!) to a randomly selected winner. Prizes could be things like televisions, cameras, golf clubs, and other fun stuff. I considered placing this first on the list because the chances of winning are very low, but because the prizes are better than the ones in the 4x Challenge, I gave it a bump.
The Elite Chase
It starts with “The,” so it’s got to be good. Anyone who earns 10,000 APP in December automatically gets Elite status for January, February, March, and April. Then, starting in April, if those people earn 4,167 APP per month, that Elite status is extended by another month. Nice deal, just won’t be useful for more than a handful of people.
WSOP Circuit – Harrah’s Resort
Every day at 6:00pm from Sunday, December 14th through Wednesday, December 17th, WSOP.com will host a $30 Re-buy and Add-on qualifier which will award at least one $1,675 seat in the World Series of Poker Circuit Main Event at Harrah’s Resort. The Circuit Event will has starting days on December 19th and December 20th in Atlantic City.
December SNG
I had a tough time deciding between this promo and the next one for the best of the bunch. I opted not to award this one the top slot because, while it is quite good, the next one will be more attractive to a wider array of players.
For the month of December, WSOP.com New Jersey has brought back the Sit-and-Go leaderboards. There are three different leaderboards, each awarding money to the top 30 points earners. The low limit board will be for Sit-and-Go’s with $5 buy-ins or lower and will have a total prize pool of $1,000 per week. Mid limit is $20 and under with a prize pool of $2,500. The high limit board is for $25 buy-ins and higher and will have a prize pool of $4,000.
There will be four weekly leaderboard races, with the first starting at the stroke of midnight on Sunday, December 7th. Leaderboards will reset at the end of the week. I won’t get into the points formulas, but will say that everyone who finishes in the top 50 percent of a Sit-and-Go will get points.
I would like this. Receive points for playing too tight? Yes, please.
December Deepstack Series
It’s a tournament series. With deep starting stacks. Pretty self-explanatory. It will run for week starting December 15th and will feature one tournament per day in which everyone will begin with chip stacks totaling 200 big blinds. The events are ultra-affordable, as well, with no buy-in higher than $100. Five of the seven events do allow for re-buys and add-ons, though, so that kind of stinks for those with smaller bankrolls. The two freezeouts are just $20 and $30, so that’s not too bad. The smallest guaranteed prize pool is $1,000, with just over $20,000 in total guarantees.
