Atlantic City Resorts Casino Hotel Adds Online Gambling Software Partners
Atlantic City’s Resorts Casino Hotel has announced a new software deal with a joint firm that is designed to bring online-casino games to the ResortsCasino.com site currently under development for New Jersey residents. The deal is between Resorts Casino AC and SNG Interactive, which is itself a joint venture between two software firms, NYX Gaming Group Ltd. and Sportech PLC.
NYX is a global marketer of online casino games, headquartered in Las Vegas and with other offices in the United Kingdom, Sweden and Australia, while Sportech PLC is a London-based provider of online sportsbetting platforms, and will represent a solution for Resorts Casino AC in the event the state of New Jersey eventually prevails in its own US court fight to legalize sportsbetting.
The deal was announced in a combined press release also talking about Resorts Casino Hotel’s approval of the sale of PokerStars parent Oldford Group to Canada’s Amaya Gaming Group. The combination of the two suggests that Resorts Casino will look to its existing Amaya-PokerStars deal as a poker-only solution, while using the new SNG Interactive partnership for other online gambling services instead of the non-poker solutions Amaya also offers.
As with Amaya and its renewed New Jersey application on behalf of PokerStars, SNG Interactive will also have to receive the state’s regulatory approval.
“This is an exciting era of gaming in New Jersey and we are confident it will be another positive stepping stone in Resorts storied history,” said Morris Bailey, owner of Resorts Casino Hotel. Bailey remains the primary owner of the property, Atlantic City’s oldest, but in 2012 turned over operational control of the casino, which is no longer part of the Resorts International family, to Mohegan Gaming Advisors, which operates casinos in several northeastern US states.
Matt Davey, the CEO of NYX Gaming Group, said, “We are very proud to be working with partners of the calibre of Resorts Casino Hotel and Sportech PLC. Resorts is one of the few brands with legitimate claim to New Jersey and holds an iconic position in the industry. The combination of NYX’s flexible gaming solutions and extensive library of high quality game content will be key contributors to the unique positioning and success of Resorts iGaming venture.”
Under its NextGen Gaming brand. NYX supplies several prominent online slots titles, bingo and other games, and already boasts partnerships with numerous well-known European gaming companies. The short list of existing NextGen partners includes 888.com, bwin.party, William Hill, Microgaming, the Amaya-owned Cryptologic, Victor Chandler, Playtech and others.
A Sportech PLC release on the deal offers additional information, including that Sportech and NYX will each invest up to $2 million in the software venture. The online casino games, once tested and approved for ResortsCasino.com and other domains, are expected to go live in January of 2015 with roulette, blackjack and online slots. SNG will also provide turnkey operational support, include customer support.
Sportech also describes the deal as the “first initiative in Sportech’s strategic aim to add an iGaming business division to its extensive retail, telephone and online betting activities in the US,” which have been part of the company’s long-range plans since it signed the joint-software deal last fall with NYX.
