More New Jersey Online Poker Licensing: Eight Additional Transactional Waivers Granted
Still more breaking news from New Jersey’s new online-poker regine, where state regulators today announced the issuing of a raft of transactional (conditional) waivers that will allow several of the state’s casinos to launch their online gambling sites later this month as planned, in accordance with the state’s announced timetable. The news was important both for who was granted conditional approval (bwin.party, 888, Amaya, others) as who wasn’t (PokerStars).
New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) officials also released today a separate list of eight companies who have also been granted a transactional waiver, allowing them to do business in the state as a software vendor if they can find a willing partner among the state’s 12 land-based casinos. All eight of the corporate entities have applied with the DGE for internet-gaming licensure, and several of them have been reported to be in discussions with New Jersey casinos.
Here’s the list:
Paddy Power North America Inc., f/k/a Doosra Inc.
Genesis Gaming, Inc.
Betable New Jersey, LLC
Rush Street Interactive
Evolution New Jersey, LLC
Williams Interactive, LLC
Pala Interactive, LLC.
Scientific Games International, Inc.
Scientific Games and Williams Interactive are hardware and software giants in the gambling industry and have a working agreement between them, and also comprise two-thirds of a support troika as the primary vendor of online gambling services for New Jersey’s neighbor state Delaware, where its services have gone live this week.
Pala Interactive, the online gaming division of California’s Pala band of Mission Indians, has been in the news with its plans to offer online gaming wherever it can in the US. Pala has inked a deal with CAMS (already conditionally approved in New Jersey) and has also signed Phil Ivey as its leading poker spokesplayer.
And then there’s Paddy Power, the UK sportsbetting and software powerhouse which includes Betable as a partner and has now successfully applied in both Nevada and New Jersey, though Paddy has had less luck to date in finding a willing casino partner. Paddy has one advantage over other online firms: it never offered services to US punters, even before the 2006 UIGEA, and thus approaches the pending US market with cleaner hands than most.
The remaining conditional waivers were granted to firms that focus more on online slots — Genesis Gaming, Rush Street Interactive and Evolution New Jersey. Those firms are best described as similar to Paddy within the framework of the New Jersey market: software developers seeking a partner.
All of the above join a lengthy list of ancillary vendors and service providers also approved by New Jersey regulators in recent weeks. New Jersey maintains two separate lists, the first for internet gaming “ancillary companies.” All of these firms have been conditionally approved to enter into agreements with existing New jersey license holders: GeoComply Inc., SecureTrading Inc. XYVerify Inc., PokerTrip Enterprises, Inc., DBI Staffing, LOCAid Inc., Poker Venture LLC, Player Verify LLC, Certegy Check Services Inc., Cognitive Box Consulting LLC, Aristotle International Inc. and US Casino Marketing Inc.
All of those are joined by an even larger list of conditionally approved “vendor registrants” who have completed applications, passed an initial examination, and are thus free to negotitiate with the state’s license holders.
That lengthy list includes: Kalixa USA, WorldPay Limited, Counting House Services Ltd., Vantiv Payment Systems Inc., PayNearMe MT Inc., Skrill USA Inc., Forte Payment Systems Inc., PaySafeCard.com USA Inc., NBX Merchant Services Inc. (t/a Optimal Payments, formerly NETeller), Sightline Interactive, Interactive Communications Intl., ITC Financial Licenses Inc., Mazooma Inc., Digital Envoy Inc., EcomAccess Inc., Alexander Schneider USA Inc., EmailVision UK Ltd., Cable Design Services Limited, Innovative Systems, Inc., Jumio Inc., Itex (Isle of Man) Limited, Silverpop Systems Ltd., Clickatell Inc., Thomason Reuters Prof. UK Ltd., Softcat Limited, Virgin Enterprises Limited, Blue Sheep LLP, MMGP, TrustNet Ltd., We! Ltd., Radbit Computers Inc., SRC Security Research $ Consulting, Initial Rewards USA Ltd., Maxmind, Duo Security Inc., DDB Worldwide Communications Group, I2C, Money Network, First Data Merchant Services, Neustar and Acculink.
